Summary

Mike Lombardi arrives bright and early to create his show. But his enthusiasm quickly dissolves as Comedy Central breaks the news about the changes to the script. And Denis Leary is no help, because heÍs gone into rehab and is completely AWOL. Amber, another semifinalist, is now strangely acting as Denis' eyes and ears in his absence. Mike's dreams get further downsized as he loses fights for his set and his cast. The only thing he does get is his title sequence.

Mike takes his new cast, headed by Broadway star Peter Gallagher, to a Manhattan street for shooting. After some initial problems with wardrobe and some minor unpleasantness between comedian Colin Quinn and executive producer Jim Serpico, shooting begins. On the first take, cast member Jimmy Burke accidentally hits Peter Gallagher with a car. Before the ambulance can arrive, Mike bravely tries to forge forward with another shot. On the next take, a delivery guy assaults Jimmy. With two injured actors and time creeping up, Comedy Central creative executive Chris Phillips pulls the plug. Mike is devastated, but resolves to come back strong.
