Set on Wall Street as it reels under the weight of a recession, ballet star Mikhail Baryshnikov, Peter Gallagher, and Joan Cusack star in this contemporary remake of the haunting 1919 German classic about an evil hypnotist who incites his patient to murder. Dr. Caligari's granddaughter is now in charge of the asylum - full of inmates who are addicted to drugs and sex. Like the original, this version is silent. Instead of dialogue, the film is set to a tone poem by the American composer John Adams.
